Rev. Alusine Diamond-Suma has over eight years of experience in democracy, parliamentary governance, and civil engagements.  Diamond is a country director at the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) in Sierra Leone, focusing on strengthening democracy through parliamentary engagement and technical support.  Before joining WFD, Diamond was the national coordinator of U-Report Sierra Leone and programs coordinator of Restless Development Sierra Leone.  Diamond is a National Open Government Partnership (OGP) Steering Committee member who has led parliamentary strides on OGP for over four years.  He is an active advocate for democracy and good governance and runs multiple platforms on youth empowerment and the environment.  Diamond holds a Master of Arts in sustainable development from the University of Maken and an advanced certificate in post-legislative scrutiny from the University of London.  Through the OGP, Diamond promoted disability inclusion which improved the physical accessibility of people with disabilities in Parliament. He supports the establishment of the Parliament-CSO Network to scale up citizens' participation in law-making.  Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Diamond plans to see a community where civic engagement provides the mechanisms that allow citizens to identify and act on their roles and responsibilities and agree on their solutions to development.
