Hubert H. Humphrey West Cohort Year-End Conference
The 2017-18 cohort of UC Davis Humphrey Fellows travelled to Arizona to meet the Arizona State University Humphrey Fellows for the West Cohort Year-End Conference April 16-19, 2018. The Fellows discussed their professional experiences in the U.S., transitioning home, and reverse culture shock as the fellowship program end date approaches. While in Arizona, the Fellows also visited the Grand Canyon via Monument Valley, where most opted to stay overnight in traditional Navaho hogans, among other sightseeing activities.

- Abdi Ahmed Mohamed led a graduate case study for the "International Agriculture Development 200" course covering a past project he administered in Somalia. He emphasized the need for participatory community action and acknowledging the human resources that exist even in resource-scarce communities, November 28, 2017.
- Xin Liu interviewed for Al Gore's 24 Hours of Climate Reality, featured in the eleventh hour focused on China, December 4-5, 2017.
Volunteer/ Community Service Activities
- Helped with clean-up activities at Putah Creek Clean-Up, September 16, 2017
- Participated in a solar install activity with GRID Alternatives, September 18-19, 2017
- Cooked for local citizens in need with Davis Community Meals, November 25, 2017
- Worked with Asociación Ecuatoriana de California to organize and serve food for its annual fundraising dinner. Funds raised will be invested in projects to improve the living conditions of vulnerable groups in Ecuador and Latin America, December 2, 2017
