Eric Asiamah Yeboah has more than five years of experience in agricultural research and working with the Seed Production in Grains and Legumes Development Board, a seed production organization under the Ministry of Agriculture. Currently, Eric serves as assistant development officer, with the goal to promote agriculture as a business, and vehicle to increase job creation in Ghana. Eric’s experience working with local farmers has given him a unique perspective and practical knowledge bridging cultural and socio-economic divisions. Eric is also dedicated to promoting youth education and positioning farming as a career to promote economic growth, rather than solely a means of subsistence. Eric sees educational outreach as one tool to help better equip local farmers to take advantage of available technologies and farming innovations in order to promote increased productivity. Eric has worked with multiple food security and income improvement projects during his career. Within the last year, Eric helped supply around 5,400 kilograms of improved maize variety to support the Government of Ghana Planting for Food and Jobs Program. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Eric plans to utilize skills and knowledge gained to continue advancing farming practices and productivity in Ghana.
