Alseny Bah has more than five years of experience in the water and sanitation sectors. Currently, Alseny is an assistant professor at the University of N'zerekore, Guinea, researching environmental science and engineering. He is also the founder and CEO of the Guinean Agency for a Clean Environment, which conducts solid waste management, cleans public places, and teaches handwashing and home water treatment techniques. Alseny holds a master's degree in Environmental Science and Engineering and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Wastewater Treatment, focusing on solar-based landfill leachate sanitation. Alseny is committed to community-based water and sanitation services. In Guinea, a lack of good water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) practices has resulted in the spread of Ebola, COVID-19, and other outbreaks over the last decade. Alseny believes that only through good WASH practices will we be able to prevent the next pandemic. After completing the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, Alseny looks forward to researching new sanitation techniques, services, and innovations. Furthermore, he wants to promote healthy habits across disadvantaged regions of the nation by implementing a branch of his organization to collect household waste from homes and teach teachers across the country about WASH practices.
