Ilaisa Naca hails from the Fiji Islands and holds a master's degree in hazards, cities and spatial planning from the University of Porto, Portugal. He also attained a postgraduate diploma in geography and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of the South Pacific, Fiji.
Ilaisa has more than ten years of experience in the areas of climate change and disaster risk management, monitoring and evaluation, agriculture, rural development, education and numerous community engagements in the South Pacific Region. He had collaborated with UN agencies, CROP agencies, the Government, NGOs and the private sectors, which enabled him to refine technical skills that contributed to successful project outputs ranging from the area of project planning, implementation and reporting contributing to resilient livelihood.
As a current Hubert H. Humprey fellow at the University of California, Davis, Ilaisa is very passionate about climate change adaptation in the Pacific. He actively engages in learning from experts at UC Davis and the United States of America to devise methods that will enhance climate change adaptation and resilience in Fiji and other countries in the Pacific that are currently threatened by climate change.
