Saida Sharifova is a Scientific Secretary and researcher at the Institute of Genetic Resources, Azerbaijan. She received her Ph.D in Biology from the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences in 2012. Her research interest mainly includes applying novel genetics approaches for the study of plant genetic diversity and understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying abiotic stress resistance in wild plant species. She has enjoyed the Erasmus Mundus programme, funded by the European Commission, two times: Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate and Post Doctorate programmes. Currently she is a Fulbright Visiting Scholar in the Department of Plant Biology at the University of California, Davis from August 2017 to December 2017. Her current research focus is identification of differently expressed genes in wild tomato using RNA-seq data. She loves nature and traveling, and is passionate about the cultures, art and history of different countries.
