Prof. Jan Aurich studied Mechanical Engineering at Leibniz University Hannover, Germany, and Colorado State University, Ft. Collins, USA. From 1990 to 1995, he was researcher at the Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Machine Tools of Leibniz University and head of its computer-aided design and process planning group. From 1995 to 2002, Prof. Aurich has been working in various executive positions in manufacturing and development at Daimler AG. Since then, he is Professor for Manufacturing Technology and Production Systems at the University of Kaiserslautern. From 2005 - 2008, he was Chair of the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering and Member of the University Senate. Since 2014, he is member of the Council of the University of Kaiserslautern. Prof. Aurich is vice president of the German Academic Society of Production Engineering and Fellow of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP).
