$40,000 in Scholarships Announced for Virtual Global Learning Projects This Summer
Have you wondered how you can experience international opportunities during a time of travel restrictions? Would you like to connect with companies and organizations from around the world?
The UC Davis College of Letters and Science, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, Global Learning Hub within Global Affairs, and the Ann E. Pitzer Foundation, have made available over $40,000 in funding for students to cover partial-to-full cost of participation on virtual global learning projects this summer.
There are social impact internships, virtual education, and tech projects with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in different countries, as well as programs that focus on the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals and global entrepreneurship. Options range across many disciplines and have varying levels of time commitments.
You can select one of these programs:
- People and Friends (June 6 – 19, 2021): program for undergraduate and graduate students about Global Entrepreneurship or the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Work with start-up projects, attend guest lectures, and participate in virtual cultural activities.
- Widening Circles (June 15 – August 15, 2021): new program for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students that responds to the current moment by offering a digital ecosystem of relationships, social impact internship opportunities, curated curriculum, and multimedia storytelling. Sign-up and learn more about full funding. Watch the student video.
- Team4Tech (June 14 – August 6, 2021): program for undergraduate students to work in an interdisciplinary team to help African NGOs improve education in their local communities. This remote summer internship will focus on education, technology, and international development. Watch the video to hear from past participants.
- API Innovation Lab (June 1 – August 20, 2021): program for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students with a team of 4-6 peers to develop innovative business solutions to global challenges while building essential skills of cross-cultural teamwork and collaboration, concept design, and execution. Pitch project ideas to industry mentors and receive real-world feedback.
